Muscat International School

Muscat International School (MIS) was founded in 1989 and is centrally located in Qurum and was the first school in Oman to pioneer the IGCSE/A level curriculum. MIS is a private, co-educational day school, licensed by the Omani Ministry of Education to deliver the English national curriculum alongside Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social Studies from the Omani curriculum, to students of all nationalities in the KG to Grade 12 age range. MIS strives for excellence to lead in the field of educating young adults for the world of tomorrow.

Omani: National dress - grey dishdasha, kumma. Other: Navy blue trousers, white shirt. Kindergarten children do not need to wear school uniform


Girls: Dark coloured, closed-in shoes with rubber soles. Boys: Dark coloured, closed-in shoes with rubber soles. Omani boys in Grade 10 and above may wear sandals.


A special P.E. kit is available for purchase at school and this must be worn on all occasions required (see separate leaflet, including House Kit


To protect clothes, eyes, hands, etc., during craft, cooking lessons etc. and laboratory periods, aprons and other safety-wear must be worn.


Nail varnish and make-up must not be worn.


Hair should be kept neat and brushed well off the face. Girls’ long hair is to be tied back at all times. Boys’ hair should always be kept short, above the collar.


Students may wear a watch (to be given to P.E. staff during P.E. lessons if required). Girls with pierced ears may wear one pair of small stud/sleeper earrings. All other pierced jewellery is not accepted. The school is not responsible for jewellery items misplaced or lost at school. Exaggerated, provocative, unusual or colored hair styles / footwear / jewellery / appearance are not considered appropriate for school and will not be accepted. Students will be sent home.
