The main focus for grade 2 ICT at MIS is on understanding the basics of, and using technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content. Students will be able to recognise common uses of technology, both inside and outside of the school, and have a basic understanding of what these systems are for and how to use them. Students will also begin to explore what algorithms are and that they are part of what makes a computer and other digital devices work. Students will use a variety of programs to develop an understanding of the concept of how programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions. They will also begin to explore how to create and debug simple programs. Students in grade 2 will be guided through the use of logical reasoning to try and predict the behaviour of simple programs. Our students’ safety is of paramount importance, therefore, we ensure that all of our students learn how to access and use the digital world safely and with respect. Students learn how to keep personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies.
